One of AKKA’s projects: The Impact Hub co-working space in Amsterdam is featured in a recent publication about the best «Workplaces Today» by Juriaan Van Meel.
Exposing some 30 workplaces organised in 10 categories, Workplaces Today is a cross-section of the current trends in working places. Going from Home office, to Co-working offices, Flex Offices and Play offices this publication really is “a kaleidoscopic survey of the contemporary work environment […] that discusses a large variety of places for knowledge work, ranging from shiny corporate head offices and cubicled call centres, to raw designers studios and hip cowork spaces”. Besides the physical spaces people work in, the book also looks at the dynamics of people at work, how they work, through examples from across the world.
In his article about the coworking space “Impact Hub Amsterdam”, Juriaan van Meel introduces the Hub as a place of opportunities for social entrepreneurs. He explains how AKKA’s design of this coworking space enables flexibility in the Hub’s life and events. Beyond being an opening to rewarding collaborations, van Meel sees how the different working spaces are separated and yet come together in a coordinated whole. Furthermore, he describes how the Impact Hub’s social resources and its workspaces are designed to be centred on interaction. Two keys factors that once combined together, creates an « ecosystem for change».
