AKKA’s founder Stephanie Hughes is speaking at the yearly congress held by the GDO “Gemeenten voor Duurzame Ontwikkeling” (Municipalities for sustainable development). Stephanie is presenting Architecting Interaction, her vision behind AKKA and how it applies to sustainable cities development. After exploring the new roles of citizens, civil servants and architects, Stephanie talks about the process in which they all come together and the dynamics of collaboration that take place for a successful project to emerge.
Founded in February 2008, GDO is an network that wants to achieve sustainable development at local level by involving citizens, civil society organizations and the business community. As an organisation, GDO stay in contact with the society’s issues and actions and aims to create conditions that encourage sustainable choices by appealing to inspire and connect. Communication, education and participation are therefore primordial instruments.
