AKKA founder Stephanie Akkaoui Hughes delivers the keynote speech at the Empowering People program in The Hague, Netherlands.
The Empowering People program starts with a three month learning journey designed to, on the one hand, support social entrepreneurs with the start up of their ventures and on the other hand, support central government civil servants with their changing role in the civil society. This is done by directly matching social entrepreneurs with civil servants for a three month collaboration. The Empowering People program is run by Green Wish, an organisation dedicated to facilitating social innovation, encouraging initiative and supporting participating citizens to ensure that the Netherlands continues ton the path of sustainable and social development. www.greenwish.nl
In her speech to entrepreneurs and civil servants, Stephanie focuses on the new roles we need to embody. In order to encourage and support sustainable and social innovation, Stephanie believes we need to start by creating contexts, systems or environments that foster interactions. To do so, we need not dictate but rather facilitate. “The key to designing sustainably, Stephanie says, is to facilitate interactions”.
