How architecture can elevate the learning experience

Case study: AOC School

The AOC School in Doetinchem, as well as teaching the usual academic subjects, teaches its students agriculture and farming. This means that sustainability is an important aspect of our proposal.
The competition was about the renovation and extension of one of the two existing buildings, dated 1982.

The concept behind the design was the creation of a modern and future-oriented educational building. Flexibility, sustainability and circularity were the main key words.
The main goal was create a «natural and green environment» not just inside the school but also outside. The use of glass allows the connection between inside and outside.
